my feeling is to blue it but it also depends on if i can remove the springs that snap the legs in place,if i cant remove the springs then i cant blue it because the heat will de-temper them ,thanks for the input guys its really helpfull when i dont have a de-ack to refer to.

ive never heard of cold blue, ive done lots of regular oil quench blueing ,theres something deeply satisfying about it but do tell about cold blueing as there are often things that ive soldered together that cant be re-heated to blue them.

I've used Birchwood Casey Gun Blue paste quite a few times now.

Basically you degrease the metal, dip it in the gun blue and leave it for a bit. Then wash the blue off after a while with water. It works best if you then oil the part.

Here's a search for some on ebay.
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=+gun ... m270.l1313

Note it only works with Steel, not aluminium or other metals. It doesn't work with stainless steel.

I seem to recall they have versions for other metals.

sorry for the delay in between posts ,lots of real life stuff going on and getting ready to go on hols but had time to do a little more .this shows the reciever lip with dust cover and mag release catch all now working .also the first mag finished ,its an original mag gutted with a mutilated ak hi-cap in it,the winding can be done with mag fitted useing the fast wind key as shown,im afraid it dont look pretty on the inside.before i get a shower of mail from hi-cap haters i should mention its a support weapon and i will maqinly be useing it on open days for regular airsoft as i havent yet managet to get time off work, (im an "AA" man)because we book leave 12-18 months in advance,to go go a ww2 event ,just failed to get time off for operation sealion (boo hoo).

Bad luck mate - it would have been great to have a Bren at Sealion.

stock and rear sight mounted ,flip down rear sight was varry satisfying when done ,i used one of those spring loaded ballbearing type door catches.i feel ive got to the stage when its just assembling all the parts and its all finally taking shape, just need to finish the front end and the attachment for the pistol grip then the simple job of fitting the working parts...hmm .

Bunk off work and I promise we'll stand in court and testify you were not there, you've got to bring that work of art to Sealion, and yes I know it might be pointed at me. The guy that built our Northover Projector is having a serious go at making one but fears it wont be completed in time. I will point him to this thread, especially reference the mag and feed. I'm giving him four mp40 lowcaps to see if he can build a dummy shroud and feed with straight mags, but your high cap looks like a good alternative.

the hi cap is a fiddle to make ,ive done one now ive got to make another exactly the same and im not looking forward to it ,a more simple method would be to use ak47 mid caps ,they come in 150 round and need only to be lightly butchered to fit in the original mag cases (only £5 ish for bren mags each).and ive got serious doubts wether i will get the rest of the gun finished ,i made ligtht of fitting the gearbox and making it work ,but in my experience that can be time consuming to get it in sweetly ,but all my spare time will be in that persuit.
